Log Cabin Creations is based in Eagle, Alaska on the Yukon River. I, Krystie DePue, am blessed to be a stay-at-home pastors wife and mom to 4 fun kids. Log Cabin Creations was born out of my love for both handcrafts and history. I began crafts as a young child living in Cordova, Alaska, my first projects were cross stitch and latch hook rugs. I really enjoyed cross stitch and made numerous pictures, quilts etc until I discovered beads, and was taught by a friend how to make sun catchers. At the time I had long hair and so transitioned into making hair barrettes using a stitching method, mixing the cross stitch and beads was natural. I was introduced to bead looming, not the kind we did at camp, but intricate patterns that I finished into barrettes, pins and wall hangings. As I was collecting more beads to loom with I also gathered more information on the history of beads, and in turn the world of Antique Trade Beads was opened to me. Since that point several years ago I have been specializing in designing jewelry using Antique Trade Bead, mostly using the same types of beads that were brought into the Upper Yukon River area in the late 1800's by the trappers and miners. About the time I began bead looming a friend taught me to knit and once again my love of history fueled me to learn more about the beginnings of knitting and the traditional fibers such as wool. As a result I began exploring the wonderful world of felting or fulling and creating a variety of bags, from small gift bags to large totes. I continue to explore new crafts and designs so visit often.
